Canada's vast boreal forest is the most intact major forest region in the world, but it is increasingly under threat. While 2013 saw many stories about this magnificent global natural treasure, in 2014 there will be a host of issues under consideration that could affect it forever—for good or bad.

The Canadian Boreal Initiative and Boreal Songbird Initiative list the top stories that caught our eye in the past year and that we expect will be top stories in 2014.
