For many, the term "biodiversity" has become synonymous with the number of species present within a region. However, biodiversity encompasses so much more than just how many species occur where. Through looking at biodiversity through a new lens, we find that many unique biodiversity characteristics emerge from Canada's boreal forest and position it alonside iconic forests like the Amazon in terms of its global biodiversity contributions and importance. This report highlights 10 places with unique and special biodiversity characteristics.
