We at BSI just wanted to let you know that the Ontario breeding bird atlas has finally arrived in French!:
This amazing book was collaboratively put together by Ontario Nature, Bird Studies Canada, Canadian Wildlife Service, Ontario Field Ornithologists, and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. More than 3,000 volunteers logged 150,000 hours for this cause and a total of 1.2 million individual breeding bird records were submitted - an amazing feat!
Ex-BSI staffer Matt Meddler, who currently works for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, called it the "finest breeding bird atlas" that he has ever seen in his review of the atlas on this blog back in 2008. He provided a thorough analysis of the book as well as how it connects to the bigger picture on boreal birds. You can read his entire review here:
