Another whirlwind day down in SoJersey! Out of the house pre-dawn and worked the Delaware Bayshore for lingering ducks (saw very important things like a Pintail, a pair of Gadwall, and a single American Wigeon) and finally a White-rumped Sandpiper. Ran into Pete Dunne, the founder of the event, who I know from my time down here. As usual, any meeting between birders this week is a helpful exchange of information. The rest of the morning was spent birding the pitch pine woods of Bellplain, and then it was down to Cape May Point.

Dave Sherwood arrived today, and I sent him to check on some Piping Plovers as I worked my way down to meet him. I visited another friend, whom it was good to see, but also good to get even more info. A Philly cheese steak and the famous corn fritters from the Westside Market will fuel me this afternoon!

I have a few more places to clean up this afternoon and evening, checking times and a few back-up bird sites. Then, it will be on to tonight's official swap meet, where yet even more information will be shared. Complete information overload!

Fun birds today include a nest-building Prothonatory Warbler (that will be HUGE on Saturday), a heard Kentucky Warbler, and latish migrants including a large group of Yellow-rumped Warblers.
